In various buffer and storage solutions. Commonly used as a 0.01% v/v in solution

It is a constituent of 1xPBS, 1x TBS and other cell biology buffer solutions, having a bacteriostatic properties, by inhibiting  Cytochrome C pathways in bacteria.
